How much does it cost to paint my bedroom in Salisbury, MD?
I lost track of how many times I've heard someone say, "I don't know how you do it, I do not have the patience for painting." I get it. Although I am a do it yourselfer 🔨, there are things that I don't have the skill, knowledge, or patience for either. Then I'm left wondering, but how much is it going to cost? The best way, obviously, is to book an estimate with us at the bottom of our page ⬇️, but I will try to give you an idea here and now.
We specialize in Residential Repaints, so our prices will be based on surfaces already having been primed and finished.
Bedrooms, just like any other room, come in many different shapes and sizes. For this example, we will use a standard 10x12 room with 8 ft ceilings. A room like this will typically have an entry door, 1-2 windows, and a closet.
Setup: Furniture needs to moved or removed, window treatments need to be removed, pictures taken down, switch and outlet covers removed, drop clothes laid on the floors, plastic draped over anything remaining in the room. If doors are being painted, door knobs need to be taken off. If windows are being painted, hardware needs to be taken off. All of the above will take about 1 1/2-2 hrs which equals $60-$80.
Repairs: Simple drywall repairs, like nail holes and dents are included with all painting. Examples of extra costs would be joint tape repairs, excessive nail pops, and skim coated walls.
Ceiling: This room will have 120 sq/ft (square feet) of wall space. A gallon of paint will average a coverage 350-400 sq/ft of wall space, so 1 gallon should be enough for 2 coats. The average material and labor cost for a ceiling this size is $100.
Walls: For walls with 8 ft ceilings there will be approximately 350 sq/ft of wall space. 2 gallons of paint for 2 coats plus labor will bring you to an average price of $360.
Doors & Casings: For a standard 6 panel door and 2 1/4" casing we will price it per side. These will normally be priced per coat since the existing surface is already sealed and color changes are not very common. The price for the first coat is $40 per side. If a second coat is needed, or desired, the cost is an additional $20 per side.
Crown, Chair Rail, Baseboard: Again, these will be priced per coat. Standard, 1 piece chair rail and baseboard will run around $1 per lineal ft. 1 piece crown molding will run around $1.50 per lineal ft.
It is difficult to give an exact price for any project without seeing it because every job is unique in its own way. This is intended to give you a ballpark price so you can plan ahead. We look forward to hearing from you!
